Sunny Choi - International Piano Artist
Ever since she was a child, Sunny Choi knew that she wanted to be the best at something, but she wasn’t quite sure what that was. Like many people who have a passion for excellence she committed herself to studying hard and taking all of the positive opportunities that were presented to her. Sunny didn’t have to wait long, her parents started her in piano lessons at the age of four and she quickly began to win classical music competitions at all levels during her childhood. After her family emigrated from South Korea to Canada, Sunny continued her classical music competition winning ways and completed her Associate of The Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) designation - the highest classical music performance award offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music. But it was also around this time that Sunny discovered a new dimension to her musical talent that she was only partially aware of before.
Sunny has a rare gift called “perfect pitch” and this talent allows her to play almost any musical selection that she hears without the aid of written music. Sunny has spent the last decade fine-tuning her gift and has developed her business “Sunny Choi Music” around her love of music and powerful talent.
When her business first started, Sunny performed piano at upscale wedding and corporate events around the Toronto area. Now only a few years later, Sunny Choi has expanded her business into regular performing engagements at some of the top entertainment venues in Canada such as Fallsview Casino and Casino Rama and has begun to record her music for a wider audience. Sunny’s first commercial recording was announced in 2010 and indeed she is working hard in the studio. “No component of my endeavor can supersede the other," Sunny reports. "I must continuously pay attention to what my audience wants, practice vigorously, and push my brand consistently to move my music forward. If any aspect of my routine slips then my music and business is negatively affected.”
